Happy new year!!!!!
I've done this already on LJ, but for those people who hang out more in this corner of hte world... It's been a crazy busy holiday, but today I'm sitting here in my pjs, drinking coffee and Baileys and considering myself truly blessed.

jubilancy & oneangrykate - Thank you for the card. I think of you both often, and I still treasure that time together at TIFF. All the best for 2009!
And lilithilien - We will get together in January. I demand it. *nods*

My favourite bits of 2008, in no particular order of importance:

Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova at the Oscars. Such love for their music and Once.

Surviving the neverending snow of 2008 and being smart enough to pay for snow removal this winter!

Welcoming my niece into the world and getting the news that I will be an aunt AGAIN this coming spring! My brothers are late bloomers, but it appears that once they get started…

Spending time with trianne in Ottawa over the summer, getting the chance to play tour guide, and watching The Oxford Murders with her and alchehmilla (and squeeing over the people I recognized!) thanks to the generosity of serai1. And then later with josanpq. :)

Reaching my goal weight in September and knowing that four months later, I'm 5 pounds below! The gym is now a habit. And I feel so much better as a result.

Barack Obama.

Meeting annwyn55, seeing my daughter and ex reconcile, and getting a promotion, all in the same week!

Reveling in the guilty pleasure of discovering Lost in Austen this week and watching it more than once (I have no shame when it comes to Mr. Darcy in any guise).

Getting endless pleasure from reading Michael Chabon, and still enjoying the experience of In Bruges and Iron Man.

Yes indeed.

Shouting a giant shout-out for Slumdog Millionaire. Seriously, people. RUN, DO NOT WALK, to this movie.

Robert Downey Jr. And Elijah still. Yes.

And of course, all of YOU.

I love the high points of 2008 -- and I share your total love of Once (as you know) and Slumdog. Did you see it at TIFF? I saw it the last day I was there -- amazing!!

What'd you read by Michael Chabon? Adventures of K&K is on my list of top 10 books ever, but I still haven't made it through Yiddish Policeman ... some day I will read something that isn't online. :)
